Advanced Turfgrass Samples

Students in the Advanced Turfgrass class seeded plot for their Spring Semester competition.  Each group of 2 received 1/2 gram of Kentucky bluegrass and 1 gram of perennial ryegrass.  The student teams will be responsible for maintaining plots throughout the spring semester.  Good luck to all the student teams

2014 STMA Conference

Kirkwood Community College's Golf Course & Athletic Turfgrass Management Program participated in the 25th Annual STMA Conference in San Antonio, TX. This has been Kirkwood's 5th appearance at the STMA conference with a history of over 50 different students since 2009 invloved in the Student Challenge. This year I am again happy to report that Kirkwood placed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th against 11 teams in the two-year competition. Congratulations to all the students and their efforts this year.

STMA Turfbowl Students Hard at Work

Kirkwood students participating in the 2014 STMA Student Challenge traveled is Iowa State University Horticulture Dept. today to study a variety of different cool season and warm season grass samples. Students will be competing on January 24th at the STMA Turf Bowl Challenge in San Antanio, TX.
